HIP 54515 is a bright A-type star (about 1.90 solar masses, 8,100 K), 82.8 light-years from Earth. HIP 54515 b is a 17.7-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 90.3 years, at 24.8 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.42), discovered in 2026 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. The planet's marked eccentricity suggests past scattering events or perturbations from unseen companions.
