HIP 21152 is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.40 solar masses, 6,655 K), 43.4 light-years from Earth. HIP 21152 b is a 24.0-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 60.2 years, at 17.0 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,300 K, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.36), discovered in 2022 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. The planet's marked eccentricity suggests past scattering events or perturbations from unseen companions.
