HD 99492 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.85 solar masses, 4,929 K), 18.2 light-years from Earth. HD 99492 b is a 0.08-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 17.1 days, discovered in 2004 via radial velocity. HD 99492 c is a 0.06-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 95.2 days, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.06), discovered in 2023 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery.
