HD 97048 is a hot B-type star (about 2.40 solar masses, 10,000 K, 2.25 solar radii), 184 light-years from Earth. HD 97048 b is a 2.50-Jupiter-mass companion, at 130 AU from its star, discovered in 2019 via disk kinematics. HD 97048 adds another data point to the growing catalogue of planetary systems whose masses, orbits, and host-star properties constrain models of planet formation. HD 97048 b orbits far from its host star. The 2019 announcement placed HD 97048 among the thousands of confirmed planetary systems mapped since the first exoplanet detections.
