HD 88133 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.26 solar masses, 5,392 K, 2.20 solar radii), 73.6 light-years from Earth. HD 88133 b is a 0.28-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 3.4 days, at 0.048 AU from its star, discovered in 2004 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HD 88133 b skims its star closer than Mercury orbits the Sun.
