HD 4308 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.93 solar masses, 5,686 K, 1.02 solar radii), 22.0 light-years from Earth. HD 4308 b is a 0.05-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 15.6 days, at 0.120 AU from its star, discovered in 2005 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HD 4308 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
