HD 284149 A is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.13 solar masses, 6,035 K, 1.36 solar radii), 118 light-years from Earth. HD 284149 AB b is a 26.3-Jupiter-mass companion, at 431 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 2,395 K, discovered in 2017 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. HD 284149 AB b orbits far from its host star. With an equilibrium temperature around 2,395 K, the dayside atmosphere is hot enough to vaporise many common minerals.
