HD 27969 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.16 solar masses, 5,966 K, 1.27 solar radii), 67.9 light-years from Earth. HD 27969 b is a 4.80-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 1.79 years, at 1.552 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 261 K, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.18), discovered in 2021 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery.
