HD 210702 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 1.33 solar masses, 4,912 K, 4.54 solar radii), 54.2 light-years from Earth. HD 210702 b is a 1.51-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 356 days, at 1.079 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.07), discovered in 2007 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HD 210702 b orbits at roughly the distance of Mars from the Sun.
