HD 183579 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.00 solar masses, 5,784 K, 0.96 solar radii), 57.3 light-years from Earth. HD 183579 b is a 0.06-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 17.5 days, at 0.132 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 752 K, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.06), discovered in 2021 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry.
