HD 143105 is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.51 solar masses, 6,380 K), 46.8 light-years from Earth. HD 143105 b is a 1.21-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 2.2 days, at 0.038 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.07), discovered in 2016 via radial velocity. The inner world is a hot Jupiter — a gas giant hugging its star at a fraction of Mercury's distance — a class that forced astronomers to rethink how giant planets form and migrate inward.
