HD 139357 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 2.69 solar masses, 4,700 K), 112 light-years from Earth. HD 139357 b is a 19.9-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 3.08 years, at 2.949 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.10), discovered in 2008 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HD 139357 b circles in the outer system, comparable to the Jupiter region.
