HD 125595 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.29 solar masses, 4,691 K, 0.74 solar radii), 28.2 light-years from Earth. HD 125595 b is a 6.4-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 9.7 days, at 0.080 AU from its star, discovered in 2011 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HD 125595 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
