HD 116029 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.83 solar masses, 4,819 K, 4.89 solar radii), 123 light-years from Earth. HD 116029 b is a 1.40-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 1.83 years, at 1.650 AU from its star, discovered in 2011 via radial velocity. HD 116029 c is a 1.27-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 2.48 years, discovered in 2016 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery.
