HD 109749 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.13 solar masses, 5,824 K, 1.22 solar radii), 63.1 light-years from Earth. HD 109749 b is a 0.27-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 5.2 days, at 0.061 AU from its star, discovered in 2005 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HD 109749 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
