HD 103197 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 0.80 solar masses, 5,250 K, 0.88 solar radii), 57.1 light-years from Earth. HD 103197 b is a 0.09-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 47.8 days, at 0.250 AU from its star, discovered in 2011 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. HD 103197 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
