HAT-P-43 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.03 solar masses, 5,693 K, 1.08 solar radii), 529 light-years from Earth. HAT-P-43 b is a planet with 13.6 Earth radii, with an orbital period of 3.3 days, at 0.044 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,353 K, discovered in 2012 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. HAT-P-43 b skims its star closer than Mercury orbits the Sun.
