GSC 06214-00210 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.90 solar masses, 4,200 K), 109 light-years from Earth. GSC 06214-00210 b is a 16.0-Jupiter-mass companion, at 320 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 2,300 K, discovered in 2010 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. GSC 06214-00210 b orbits far from its host star. With an equilibrium temperature around 2,300 K, the dayside atmosphere is hot enough to vaporise many common minerals.
