eps Eri is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.82 solar masses, 5,020 K), 10.5 light-years from Earth. Epsilon Eridani is one of the nearest young Sun-like stars, with a debris disk and a giant planet still settling into its architecture. eps Eri b is a 1.00-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 7.34 years, at 3.530 AU from its star, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.06), discovered in 2000 via radial velocity. The planet betrayed itself through the star's reflex motion — a technique that first revealed worlds around Sun-like stars in the 1990s and remains a workhorse of exoplanet discovery. eps Eri b circles in the outer system, comparable to the Jupiter region.
