EPIC 248847494 is an orange K-type dwarf (about 0.90 solar masses, 4,898 K, 2.70 solar radii), 552 light-years from Earth. EPIC 248847494 b is a 13.0-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 9.99 years, at 4.500 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 183 K, discovered in 2018 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. EPIC 248847494 b circles in the outer system, comparable to the Jupiter region.
