CoRoT-22 is a Sun-like G-type star (about 1.10 solar masses, 5,939 K, 1.14 solar radii), 627 light-years from Earth. CoRoT-22 b is a 12.2-Earth-mass planet, with an orbital period of 9.8 days, at 0.092 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 885 K, on an eccentric orbit (e ≈ 0.08), discovered in 2014 via transit. The planet was found when it crossed the face of its star, producing periodic dips in brightness that reveal its size and orbital period to space-based photometry. CoRoT-22 b orbits well inside Earth's distance from the Sun.
