CHXR 73 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.35 solar masses, 3,099 K), 190 light-years from Earth. CHXR 73 b is a 12.6-Jupiter-mass companion, at 210 AU from its star, discovered in 2006 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. CHXR 73 b orbits far from its host star. At 12.6 Jupiter masses, the companion lies near the dividing line between giant planets and brown dwarfs.
