CFHTWIR-Oph 98 A is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.01 solar masses, 2,320 K, 0.24 solar radii). CFHTWIR-Oph 98 b is a 7.80-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 22,012 years, at 200 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,800 K, discovered in 2020 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. CFHTWIR-Oph 98 b orbits far from its host star. The planet's large radius (20.8 Earth radii) indicates a bloated atmosphere heated by intense stellar radiation.
