CD-35 2722 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.40 solar masses, 3,689 K), 22.4 light-years from Earth. CD-35 2722 b is a 29.5-Jupiter-mass companion, at 67.0 AU from its star, discovered in 2011 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. CD-35 2722 b orbits far from its host star. The planet's large radius (17.4 Earth radii) indicates a bloated atmosphere heated by intense stellar radiation. At 29.5 Jupiter masses, the companion lies near the dividing line between giant planets and brown dwarfs.
