AF Lep is a Sun-like F-type star (about 1.22 solar masses, 6,140 K), 26.9 light-years from Earth. AF Lep b is a 3.61-Jupiter-mass companion, with an orbital period of 24.4 years, at 8.996 AU from its star, discovered in 2023 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. AF Lep b orbits far from its host star. Located about 26.9 light-years away, AF Lep is one of the nearer exoplanet hosts on the sky.
