2MASS J22501512+2325342 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.43 solar masses, 3,352 K), 57.2 light-years from Earth. 2MASS J22501512+2325342 b is a 30.0-Jupiter-mass companion, at 518 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,600 K, discovered in 2018 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. 2MASS J22501512+2325342 b orbits far from its host star. With an equilibrium temperature around 1,600 K, the dayside atmosphere is hot enough to vaporise many common minerals.
