2MASS J04414489+2301513 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.02 solar masses, 2,936 K). 2MASS J04414489+2301513 b is a 7.50-Jupiter-mass companion, at 15.0 AU from its star, discovered in 2010 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. 2MASS J04414489+2301513 b orbits far from its host star. At 7.5 Jupiter masses, the companion lies near the dividing line between giant planets and brown dwarfs. The 2010 announcement placed 2MASS J04414489+2301513 among the thousands of confirmed planetary systems mapped since the first exoplanet detections.
