2MASS J04372171+2651014 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.17 solar masses, 3,100 K, 0.84 solar radii), 128 light-years from Earth. 2M0437 b is a 4.00-Jupiter-mass companion, at 118 AU from its star, and an equilibrium temperature near 1,450 K, discovered in 2021 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. 2M0437 b orbits far from its host star. With an equilibrium temperature around 1,450 K, the dayside atmosphere is hot enough to vaporise many common minerals.
