2MASS J01225093-2439505 is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.40 solar masses, 3,530 K), 33.8 light-years from Earth. 2MASS J01225093-2439505 b is a 24.5-Jupiter-mass companion, at 52.0 AU from its star, discovered in 2013 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. 2MASS J01225093-2439505 b orbits far from its host star. At 24.5 Jupiter masses, the companion lies near the dividing line between giant planets and brown dwarfs.
