2MASS J01033563-5515561 A is a cool M-dwarf (about 0.19 solar masses, 5,778 K). 2MASS J01033563-5515561 AB b is a 13.0-Jupiter-mass companion, at 84.0 AU from its star, discovered in 2013 via direct imaging. Direct imaging revealed these planets because they are young, massive, and widely separated from their star, appearing bright in infrared light against the glare. 2MASS J01033563-5515561 AB b orbits far from its host star. At 13.0 Jupiter masses, the companion lies near the dividing line between giant planets and brown dwarfs. The 2013 announcement placed 2MASS J01033563-5515561 A among the thousands of confirmed planetary systems mapped since the first exoplanet detections.
